Virginia state senator sends disturbing, divisive message rallying ‘2A’ supporters

The death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police has sparked national protests. Those protests by and large have been very peaceful ones. The right wing of the country has latched on to escalating violence, consistently perpetrated by law enforcement, as the focal point of their fascistic leanings. Being in the minority of this country, Second Amendment advocates, white supremacists, and general Trump/Mitch McConnell supporters consciously or unconsciously realize that their personal beliefs are not supported by a democracy of the American people, and as such have begun promoting the wholesale use of the military to infringe upon Americans’ civil rights and liberties.

Republican Sen. Amanda Chase of Virginia is a big Second Amendment advocate. She’s also a bit of a wildcard in Virginia’s Republican Party. During this time, when peaceful protesters are being brutalized by tear gas-throwing, “non-lethal” projectile-shooting riot police, is she calling for citizens to protect themselves from their disturbingly fascistic tactics? No. No she is not. In fact, she is attempting to enlist American citizens to go out and shoot other American citizens. Speaking to her constituents in a series of Facebook live spots, Sen. Chase began spreading rumors that shadowy antifa forces were coming out of the Richmond area into suburbs like Chesterfield to wreak havoc. Was Sen. Chase going to go there? Yes. Sen. Chase decidedly went there in her continuing broadcast.

Chase told constituents that “it is conclusive that antifa has been in the Richmond area. They are now going into, this evening, the greater Richmond area.” She explains that her county of Chesterfield is “one of those targets.” Is there any evidence of this? No. State Sen. Chase cannot provide her special intel because it’s the same right-wing conspiracy BS that the entire right-wing apparatus feeds off of these days.

“Why am I telling you this? Because I want you to be alert. I want you to be vigilant, and be careful in your communities.” Well, that seems like a pretty pedestrian—but well-meaning—sentiment of safety. State Sen. Chase continues, “What I want to tell you is that if you are Second Amendment supporter, someone that carries, be, just pay close attention to what’s going on. Protect your family, protect your, ah, be cognizant of what’s going on around you.” Ummm, that sounds like you are telling citizens with guns to act as law enforcement?

After saying that Chesterfield law enforcement is aware of this amorphous threat emanating out of those areas where Black people live, Chase mysteriously-ish explains, “and what I will tell you is that if antifa tries to hijack any of these rallies that are going to be going on in the Chesterfield area, they’re going to be in for a big surprise, because there are a number of people from the 2A community that have been activated, who are on active alert.” Yes. bananas. But it wouldn’t be Second Amendment, right-wing, fascistic, Trump-supporting looney-toonery if there wasn’t a special piece of bizarro world fascism in Chase’s message.

“If you are a gun owner, proficient, and using, I’m just putting you on notice.” She signed off her first video by reminding gun owners to keep their gun next to their bed tonight. Just like an action movie Christmas Eve! Yay! But she was not done! Boo!

In a second Facebook live video Chase explained that she had to do Facebook live because the media manipulated things. She reiterated that Second Amendment gun owners should be on heightened alert. She reminded the audience that she is a concealed carry proponent with a permit and that if anyone came to her home they would be sorry.

You may remember State Sen. Chase as the blue lives matter Republican who screamed and berated an officer when he wouldn’t allow her to park in a restricted area last year. Only the best people. MAGA!
