Oh, this is ghastly.
And Lord almighty – what a classic British police statement.
Police are responding to an incident near the Liverpool Football Club parade after a car collided with several pedestrians.
The incident happened as thousands of fans lined the streets of the city to celebrate Liverpool’s Premier League title victory.
A police spokesperson said: “We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city centre.
“We were contacted at just after 6pm today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street.

There’s still little information on the event as yet, and absolutely no clue as to the perpetrator or the reason.
…Footage showed police cordons in place around the heavily littered road, with a large police presence, ambulances and a fire engine also at the scene.
People were injured in the incident, with images capturing someone being taken away on a stretcher and a man walking with his arm around a police officer for support.

Liverpool FC held an open-top bus parade to celebrate its Premier League triumph, with fans lining the streets along the 10-mile route.
The collision came just after roads were reopened after the main parade had finished, the Guardian understands.
Harry Rashid, 48, from Solihull, was at the parade with his wife and two young daughters when he witnessed the collision.
He told PA Media: âIt happened about 10 feet away from usâŚ.The vehicle came to our right. It emerged from just right next to an ambulance, which was parked up. This grey people carrier just pulled up from the right and just rammed into all the people at the side of us.
âIt was extremely fast. Initially, we just heard the pop, pop, pop of people just being knocked off the bonnet of a car.

I’ll update as we know more.
Beege UPDATE: Well, this was a lightning speed info release for the British cops.
Itâs been about an hour since the incident in Liverpool and we already have the race of the perpetrator.
Funny how easy it is to give out details when itâs a white attacker.
This is precisely why people speculated about the Southport massacre.

And there still are no estimates of the casualties, just awful pictures and hair-raising eyewitness accounts.

The video of people flying off the front of the van and there is some suggestion there had been a road rage incident just a few seconds before it turned into the crowd.
Soccer fans, too, on top of the carnage, so there is absolutely a NSFW flag

Yeah, the quick fingering of whom people are assuming is the perp, because they don’t call him ‘the driver’ – that’s how suspicious the British public is of anything the government puts out now – is also causing angry comments and comparison with how other elements of British society are treated.
