Blasphemy Against Islam Is Now a Crime in UK 1

By now, we all know that British culture is in rapid decline.

There really is no other way to put it.

Once the home of the Enlightenment that birthed liberalism–freedom of conscience, religion, and the sovereignty of the individual– it is now reverting to the sort of religious persecution that dominated the island after Henry VIII created the Church of England and continued through several monarchs–helping spur, of all things, the great migration to the Colonies as emigrants sought religious freedom.

We all thought that was done with as Enlightenment values spread, and we were wrong. Now that Islam has come to Great Britain, blasphemy is back.

In February, a Turkish man protesting the growing Islamism of his home country, Turkey, burned a Koran in public. He was assaulted with a knife, beaten, and an Islamic truck driver rolled over his hand to punish him

His protest against the Islamist turn of Turkey earned him a charge of disorderly behaviour likely to cause “harassment, alarm or distress”, supposedly motivated by his “hostility towards members of a religious group, namely followers of Islam”.

Worse still, Coskun was attacked at the scene. First by a man with a knife, then by a delivery rider who ran over his hand. Coskun claims he was later menaced at his home in Derby, waking up to find two Iraqi men, armed with knives, in his kitchen, threatening to kill him if he burned a Koran again. He’s now in a safe house for his own protection.

Hamit Cosku and his assailant were both arrested at the scene, but while the knife-wielding man who kicked and slashed at Cosku was held without bail for some time, his assailant was not.

Coskun has since been tried and found guilty of offending Muslims, because offending Muslims is now a crime. So is preaching the Gospel at Speakers’ Corner, and even silently praying–wrongthink. As Muslims take over public streets to pray, carry Hamas flags, harass jews in the streets, and demand Sharia law, Christians are being prosecuted for objecting, or even practicing their religion in public.

Any claim that the real offense is merely causing offense or using threatening gestures and/or language is contradicted by the fact that Muslims can get away with this and so much more. Muslims have escaped prosecution for offenses up to the rape of children because such practices are part of their culture, according to judges in England, while Britons who express anger at such practices are visited by police, often arrested, and labeled dangerous bigots by their government.

The persecution of Christians and nonbelievers has not reached the levels seen in the 16th and 17th centuries yet, but the trajectory is clear, and Muslims are openly demanding that they do. And the authorities seem inclined to accommodate them.

This time around, the goal of the elite is not so much to force compliance with Islam, as was the case with the demands that everybody become a member of the Church of England; instead, the goal is to ensure that the populace does not offend the new occupying power.

Perhaps, instead of seeing Henry VIII’s descendants coming to power, we should look to the Vichy government as the analogue. Then, the goal was to ensure the happiness of the German occupiers.

Now, the goal is to give the Muslims what they want.
