There's a AWFL Purge Ongoing in the US Military and That's Alright 1

A few days ago, there was a bit of a tempest in a teapot when our representative to the NATO military committee, a female US Navy admiral named Shoshana Chatfield, was ‘forced out,’ as the media decided to put it.

Now, the pretty sympathetic coverage the story got was overshadowed by the noise of the tariff tussle, but what airtime it did get made sure to hit all the narrative notes so popular now. As you can imagine, those include Pete Hegseth’s war on women in the military, Trump’s aversion to people of color, and ‘woke,’ as well as what the press sees as his ego-maniacal driven insistence on loyalty.

The Pentagon on Tuesday confirmed Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield has been removed from her position as the U.S. military representative to NATO’s military committee, making her at least the ninth senior military officer forced out by the Trump administration

“Secretary [Pete] Hegseth has removed U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield from her position as U.S. representative to NATO’s military committee due to a loss of confidence in her ability to lead,” Pentagon chief spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement. “The Defense Department is grateful for her many years of military service.”

CBS’s Charlie D’Agata reported Chatfield’s firing in precisely the way I would expect the media to frame it – as a Trump attack on women and minorities. He dutifully reads Asst SecDef and DoD spokesman Sean Parnell’s official statement, then pulls a Walter Cronkite-like removal of his glasses to opine in disbelief.

…However, as you mention, this is the ninth individual, either female or person of color, who has been removed from one of these senior positions…

The implication by omission is that nary one of these souls did anything ‘wrong’ other than exist in Trump’s world in the wrong skin. That these senior military officers – and that is a key point – are innocent victims of his  – and by extension his acolytes’ – personal vendettas.

It’s patently dishonest.

Quelle surprise, no?

Military officers who have been summarily booted are all shades: black, brown, orange, green, or purple – it doesn’t matter. They have all been either the architects, enforcers, or proselytizers for the new woke military religion. Some have also been just plain incompetent.

As far as the true believers among the women purged, as in the case of Admiral Chatfield, there seems to be an extra helping of that spirit their resistance sisters on the outside carry in their twisted DNA. It’s a confounding syndrome known as AWFL  (Affluent White Female Liberal). This inexplicably transforms what should be a rational, average to highly intelligent, usually over-performing A-type personality female into an anti-social, shrieking, scolding, insensible harridan of the ‘Karen’ species.

AWFLs are always justified in anything they do, and, being the vastly superior creatures they know themselves to be, they are always right.

Here’s a quick snippet of Adl Chatfield addressing a lucky audience at the Naval War College, an institution this woman was the head of until 2023 (you should also see the problem that this talk was being given AT the Naval War College).

She’s referencing an ‘agenda’ that deals with ‘inclusivity’ and ‘diversity.’

From bemoaning the number of males in Congress in 2015 to being an ardent supporter of ‘diversity is our strength,’ Chatfield was all in on the woke program.

…In comments made when she started as president of the Naval War College in 2019, which resurfaced and received backlash in 2023, Chatfield said, “I want to see members of this team offer each other respect for differences, for diversity, for the dialogue from which ideas and collaboration emerge.”

In February 2023, former President Joe Biden nominated Chatfield for the role at NATO. A 2023 Daily Signal report stated that Chatfield’s LinkedIn account said, “Talks about #navalaviation and #dei.” One post to LinkedIn stated, “Got my wings in ’89 and would have never believed I’d be a member of the Flag Mess standing next to CNAF [Commander, Naval Air Forces] at the 2nd annual DEI conference in ’22!”

Naturally, with the incoming Trump administration, that put her on the radar, but that might not have been enough to get her canned.

According to reports that, of course, the Pentagon won’t confirm, Admiral Shoshana Chatfield was an AWFL who forgot that she also wore a uniform. What these say, unfortunately, dovetails closely with someone who would resent the military’s return to being a military and felt righteously justified in using passive resistance to protest.

Navy vice admiral fired for insubordination, after refusing to display portrait of president and secretary of defense at NATO headquarters

Navy Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield, the US military representative to the NATO Military Committee, was relieved of her duties over the weekend following reports that she refused to hang portraits of President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth at NATO headquarters.

She reportedly told military staff that they would wait out the Trump Administration, an indication of passive resistance to the commander in chief.

What lends absolute credence to the reports was Asst SecDef Sean Parnell’s blistering retort to a Jasmine Crockett blither on X.

IF YOU DISRESPECT THE CHAIN OF COMMAND

‘Bye, Felicia.

The sad and maddening thing is, AWFLs will AWFL, as yet another hormonally imbalanced, crusading lunatic in uniform found out yesterday.

The space cadet commander of the Space Force Group in Greenland decided she didn’t much like JD Vance or anything he had to say during his visit to her little kingdom.

In her infinite capacity as ruler of the frozen tundra, Col. Susan Meyers sent a base-wide email out, commiserating with everyone who’d had to suffer through the indignity of that visit (I’m shocked she didn’t offer counseling). She instructed her airmen that it didn’t make no nevermind what the VP had said during it.

They’d do as she pleased. Carry on.

…She wrote that she “spent the weekend thinking about Friday’s visit — the actions taken, the words spoken, and how it must have affected each of you.”

“I do not presume to understand current politics, but what I do know is the concerns of the U.S. administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base”

“I commit that, for as long as I am lucky enough to lead this base, all of our flags will fly proudly — together”

The email was sent to all base personnel, including those from Denmark and Greenland.

Yeah. She really did that.

AWFL, wasn’t it?

The press – even, to their shame, Military.com – described it not as ‘rank insubordination’ but as an email ‘breaking with Vance.’

Just days after Vice President JD Vance’s March visit to Pituffik Space Base in Greenland, the installation commander sent out an email to the base distancing it from Vance’s criticism of Denmark and its oversight of the territory, Military.com has learned.

Col. Susan Meyers, the commander of the 821st Space Base Group who also oversees the Pentagon’s northernmost military base, sent a March 31 message to all personnel at Pituffik seemingly aimed at generating unity among the airmen and Guardians, as well as the Canadians, Danes and Greenlanders who work there, following Vance’s appearance. She wrote that she “spent the weekend thinking about Friday’s visit — the actions taken, the words spoken, and how it must have affected each of you.”

VURT DA FURK?!

That’s not her job. That’s not her call.

She’s a disgrace to her country and her uniform.

Shortly after the story broke, it’s for sure not her job, as Karen was fired.

But this episode is just breathtaking in itself.

…Here we have a Space Force base commander undermining the vice president overseas and essentially criticizing the policies of the commander-in-chief, President Trump.

Who do these demented, entitled females think they are?

Thank God there is zero tolerance, but I want to know about the punishment.

Being fired isn’t enough – I’m sorry.

This isn’t a whackjob professor at Columbia throwing paint on the weekends. These women are military officers. Women who have troops and junior officers watching as they commit what would be tantrums on the outside but are seditious acts once that right hand went up, however many years ago.

I hope to God no one hammers a ‘F**K Trump’ Facebook post from an E-4 but lets THESE disgusting and deranged hags off with their retirements intact and untouched.

Some commanders will do that, and the resentment will blossom out of control.

You can’t have dual standards. You can’t.

The administration must squelch this AWFL rebellion immediately and brutally. Make these women pay the freight for their actions.

There’s nothing more dangerous than unleashed AWFLs in the ranks, with no fear of punishment.
